Is China (already) a technology superpower?

Xi Jinping wants to mould his country into a superpower thanks to technology. China is already a world leader in electric cars, artificial intelligence and computer chips. However, further progress is under threat, for example from American sanctions and Xi's hard-line rule. Journalist Matthias Sander from the 'Neue Zürcher Zeitung' was China correspondent for technology until the end of 2023.
